CARAMEL SNOW
Semi-Dark Indiepop / Shoegaze / Dreampop

BIOGRAPHY

After years of training as a classical composer, the artist behind Caramel Snow began writing songs inspired by 90”s Shoegaze and 80’s Indiepop. His first set of completed songs were accepted for release by the notable Indiepop label, Series Two. The label went on indefinite hiatus shortly after, and the album was never released, but Caramel Snow was invited by the label for a debut performance in front of a packed house at the Barley Street Tavern, in Omaha, on Saturday, August 13, for the 2011 Nebraska Pop Festival. Subsequent EP’s and albums appeared on Magic Rub Cassettes, Shiny Happy Records, and Jigsaw Records. Caramel Snow’s album, Dicentra, was named one of the 25 best Dreampop/Shoegaze records of 2017 by Indievotion.

Comparisons to Caramel Snow have been made with The Velvet Underground, David Bowie, White Fence, The Field Mice, The Wake, Orange Cake Mix, Simple Carnival, and the Anthony Rochesters.  British shoegaze bands of the early 90's are a recognized influence, as well as mid 60's chamber pop and psychedelia, but also él Records, post-punk, Darkwave, and the albums Magical Mystery Tour (The Beatles), and Avalon (Roxy Music).  Currently, I am very inspired by a current crop of guitar-based Indie bands like L.A. Witch, Soccer Mommy, Japanese Breakfast, Snail Mail, Jay Som, Sasami, The Japanese House, and Pale Waves.

Live shows may be exclusively original material, or a mix of originals and covers.  My cover song repertoire derives mostly from the 80's, including the Psychedelic Furs, The Cure, Echo and the Bunnymen, David Bowie, and Roxy Music.

Review of the single, "Unbroken Hearts."
"... modulated guitars truly remind me of one of my favourite bands, My Bloody Valentine. Unlike the combo led by Kevin Shields, Caramel Snow’s music is a bit more focused on melody..."
