Dots On The Clock

DOTS ON THE CLOCK
The oddest things remind me of you
The first day of fall, the last day of school
I was always a mess when I was with you
You were always soigne always so cool
I could walk you to your car or not whatever you want
I’m approaching this delicately
You look at me reluctantly
What have we got
Dots on the clock
When do the good times start
I should be glad for whatever it was
However brief it was still sweet
Blaming myself for whatever the cause
Am I too much or not enough
I could walk you to your car or not whatever you want
I’m approaching this delicately
You look at me reluctantly
What have we got
Dots on the clock
When does the heartache stop

Open Mic at Swifty's Delmar NY

I had a free Tuesday night, so I impulsively went to a local pub for Open Mic two weeks ago tonight.  I played three songs, "What I've Got To Offer Is The One Thing You Don't Want," "Princesse Tristesse," and "Who's Afraid of Sasha Grey."  There was a massive crowd there, and it seemed everyone was talking through my entire set, I don't know if they listened to any of what I played.  But I got a huge amount of applause at the end.  Maybe they were just happy I stopped.  Anyway, it was something I always wanted to do so, a small personal advancement.  It's important to make a note of these "little" moments, because you have to give yourself credit for achieving goals that look like absolutely nothing on the outside, but feel enormous on the inside.

NEW ALBUM: Our Lady of Perpetual Sin

Join me Friday night, June 21, from 7 to 9pm, when I’ll be performing at Mocha Lisa’s Cafe in Clifton Park NY, on 22 Clifton Country Road. Imagine my dismay after realizing it’s the same night of the Summer Solstice! In order to offset all those bad Summer vibes coming our way (humor me, if you will!), I decided to make it an “I Hate Summer” Solstice party. I’ll be playing some appropriate tunes from my original repertoire, such as “A Cold Dark Autumn,” and “September Shadows,” as well as covers like, “Summer’s Almost Gone,” by the Doors. So, on the first night of Summer this year, put on your Ray Bans, plenty of SPF 100, and stay inside with me!

Performing at Eden Cafe this Friday, May 24, 2019

So, the gig at the Indian Ladder Cidery and Brewery never happened because they cancelled all Friday night bands due to budgeting issues.  Your next opportunity to experience my brilliance is this Friday, May 24, at Eden Cafe, in Loudonville, NY, on 269 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211. Reserve ahead on Eventbrite.  Why reserve ahead?  Because at this point it looks like nobody is coming and the owner is afraid he is going to lose money by putting me on stage, which will make me feel like a schmuck and I'll get all depressed and stuff.  I'll play to an empty room, I don't care, because I know there are spirits out there who will enjoy it, but they have no place to put their wallets, see?  Other than that, I think my music is really good, you'll be amazed, and it's also a new release event, because my new album, "Our Lady of Perpetual Sin," is being released worldwide the same day!  IF YOU'RE READING THIS, OMG, PLEASE COME, IT'S REALLY IMPORTANT!!!

She Looks Like a Cat

SHE LOOKS LIKE A CAT
I got close
Closer than most
For a while
I remember that smile
Now I’m a ghost
She can’t see or hear
What a year
Another “almost”
She looks like a cat
Her claws painted red
The mice fall flat
Pretending they’re dead
She looks like a cat
Her eyes lined in black
I’ll scratch her back
And give her a snack
Stare in space
Stars in her eyes
She’s in touch
But communication’s tough
She looks like a cat
Her claws painted red
The mice fall flat
Pretending they’re dead
She sleeps like a cat
Curled up in a ball
But when I call
I’ll be her welcome mat

Princess Tristesse

PRINCESS TRISTESSE
Princess Tristesse
Who stained your party gown?
Did you miss the taxi that took
All your boyfriends downtown
Ice cream makeup melting
In the daybreak
When you wake up
With a headache and heartbreak
Princess Tristesse
How do you stand so tall?
When your heels are broken
And your spirit’s gone
There’s a strength within
You’ve only now discovered
Under the porcelaine

The One Thing You Don't Want

THE ONE THING YOU DON’T WANT
What I’ve got to offer
Is the one thing you don’t want
You want me to suffer
And I don’t want to stop
I can read between the lines
And it’s an empty space
But this is where you led me
And it’s a lonely place
Mechanical clocks and polka dots
Decorate your room
You left me outside looking in
But it’s a lovely view
We almost met by chance one night
A coincidence
Establishing foreshadowing
What happened four months hence
So close so warm inviting more
Then out of the blue
You left me outside looking in
Is this what we’ve come to?
